Tafe project amking me think about my future

This project I have been doing for TAFE recently where by I have to build a web site for a client has really got me thinking about my future in the digital media industry. The building of the site is fine I have no problem with that, and I quite enjoy that part of it. It's the dealing with the BLOODY clients that's driving me up the wall!!!! And it's making me wonder if I have the patience to keep dealing with them. Clients seem to make something that should be so simple and easy and manage to make it into something that is, well lets just say more difficult than it has to be, to put it politely.

Personally I much prefer to just work on my own projects, and play around and do my own thing, and that is the direction that I would like to head in (become something like a web publisher or something instead of a web designer/developer), just got to figure out a good way to make a good living out of it. If I could build a popular enough web site(s) I could make some money through advertising and merchandising and shit like that, but thats easier said than done. Now I've got to try and come up with some good ideas.

Changing my web site

Well I've been spending some time thinking about how I want my site to be and what I want it to be about, and I have come to the conclusion that I am going to move away from what I had originally intended

Now there are two ways that I could go with this site, and to be honest I want to do both. But I'll probably do the later idea first. So what is the idea? well you'll just have to wait and see.

Originally I was going to make my site a sort of on-line car magazine, but I now want to expand on this idea, but I don't really have the resources available to me to pull this idea off at this prersent point in time. So it will be going on the back burner for a little while.

So now I'm going to do a web-site on web design/development, but I'm going to do it a little differently to most other sites out there (well I'm going to approach it from a different anglr anyways).

My Rant on Lachlans Rant

A while ago, Lachlan wrote a post in his blog about some new laws where by P-platers caught speeding would automatically loose there licence.

Now for the most part i do agree with Lachlan, the new laws are BULLSHIT!!!

There is one point however, that I disagree on. In his post he said the following
"I understand why the are going to be there."

Now I figure he is saying that he understands why they are bringing these new laws in, is because he naively believes that these new laws actually have something to do with road safety.

BULLSHIT!!!

The only reason they are brought about these laws is that the powers that be don't like P-platers, in fact most of society doesn't like P-platers, hell, i don't like P-platers. And these laws have been put in place because it gives them another way to have a go at P-platers.

Much of what has been written about P-plate fatalities is complete bullshit. The media and government would have us believe that a disproportionate number of fatalities on the road are caused by p-platers in hotted up cars hooning around the streets. This is false

The numbers that they report for P-plate fatalities are actually the total number of deaths for people under the age of 25, this includes children, passengers and pedestrians. e.g. A family of 5 dies in an accident where the 40yr old father was driving and those three kids get added to the under 25 toll, even though they weren't driving. But the media/government doesn't tell you this because they want to vilify p-platers.

Another bullshit lie the media/government likes to portray is that performance cars are dangerous, but in actuality performance cars are actually among the safest cars on the roads (along with luxury vehicles). The most dangerous cars are actually small cars (econo boxes) like Hyundai excels, ford lasers etc. In fact since the RTA has introduced bans on high performance cars for p-platers, p-plate fatalities have DOUBLED!!!!!

In fact the RTA's whole Speed Kills campaign is BULLSHIT. It is nothing more that a lame attempt at trying to justify their revenue raising.
I'm getting pretty sick of typing now so instead of typing out all the facts and figures I'll just give you a link to a pretty good site (if you want to no more). This guy has summed up a lot of facts and figures pretty well and has links to a lot of studies and reports and statistics and shit. so check it out....

P.S. I am NOT a P-plater myself

Die hard was a pretty awesome movie, wouldn't mind seeing it again.
